Witness a natural winter wonder at Hilfield Reservoir.

As light beings to fade this time of year, the open water attracts thousands and thousands of gulls of different species - this is your chance to see the spectacle in action in a private nature reserve. Learn why they come here and how to tell which gull is which (they are not all 'seagulls'!)

The event will include a tour of part of the reserve, before we settle down to watch the spectacle. Bring binoculars or a field telescope if you have them and Josh will also have a telescope you can make use of.

Wrap up warm and windproof and wear sturdy footwear - wellies and thick socks are recommended. If you'd like to sit down whilst watching the gulls, consider bringing with a small insulated mat. An old cushion in a shopping bag works well! Alternatively, please bring a camp chair but you will need to carry this with you on the tour of the reserve.

Please be aware you will need to ascend and descend a flight of approx. 100 shallow steps up the dam wall - there is a hand rail. The ground may be muddy and uneven in places.

Important: No dogs will be allowed at this event, sorry

This event and all management for wildlife at Hilfield Reservoir is funded by Affinity Water.
