As part of the work being done by Heidi, our Chalk Rivers and Farm Advisory Officer, we're looking for some volunteers to help us plant 450m of hedgerow for some landowners near Digswell. The hedgerow will act as a buffer strip from Bessemer Road—helping to reduce nutrient and sediment input into the river from adjacent land and road, slow overland flow, and support groundwater recharge. Approximately 2,750 trees will be planted!
This stretch of the Mimram is beautiful, set against the backdrop of the Digswell Viaduct, small flock of elderly sheep in the field with us — it will be a real joy to spend the day there. We have space for 6 volunteers to help and we ask that all volunteers are there for the start of the session for any necessary safety briefing.
